Gas leak detection & repair.

A gas smell is an emergency. Turn it off at the meter, ventilate, avoid switches and flames, get everyone outside and call us. We make the gas safe, trace the leak with electronic detection and a pressure test to AS/NZS 5601, repair it, and only reconnect once it is safe. Appliance & cooktop connections.

Connecting a new gas cooktop, oven, space heater, gas log fire or BBQ point is prescribed gas work — it needs a licensed gas fitter and a Certificate of Compliance. A new appliance connection is usually $250–$650 plus the appliance. We size the line correctly so the appliance gets the gas it needs without starving other appliances.

New gas points & line runs.

Adding a gas point to a kitchen, an outdoor BBQ bayonet, or running a new line for a heater or hot water unit runs $400–$1,200 depending on the distance and access. Worked example: a Heritage Springs home connecting a new gas cooktop and adding an outdoor BBQ bayonet usually pays around $550–$850 including the run, the connection, a leak test, a carbon-monoxide check and an AS/NZS 5601 Certificate of Compliance.

Carbon-monoxide testing.

Ageing gas ducted and space heaters — common in the early-2000s Cardinia Lakes, Lakeside and Heritage Springs estates — can develop cracked heat exchangers that leak carbon monoxide, which is odourless and dangerous. We carbon-monoxide test gas heaters as part of servicing and after any gas work. If you have an older gas heater that has never been CO-tested, get it checked before winter.
