How we clear a blocked drain.
1. CCTV drain camera — find the real cause.
We push a waterproof camera down the line to see exactly what is blocking it and where. Roots at a joint, a grease and wipe build-up, a sagging belly in the pipe, or a cracked or collapsed section all look different and need different fixes. A camera inspection is usually $250–$400 and is often credited against the clearing work.
2. Hydro-jet & root cutting — clear it.
A hydro-jet uses high-pressure water to scour the pipe wall clean — far more thorough than an old electric eel. For tree roots we use a cutting head to slice the root mat out and flush it away. A straightforward clear is $180–$450.
3. No-dig pipe relining — stop it coming back.
If the CCTV shows cracked pipe or root-intruded joints, clearing alone is a temporary fix — the roots return. A relining job cures a resin liner inside the existing pipe, creating a smooth new pipe within it and sealing the joints roots used to enter. No excavation, no destroyed lawn or driveway.
Why drains block in Cardinia’s estates.
The early-2000s Cardinia Lakes, Lakeside and Heritage Springs estates were planted with fast-growing trees that are now 15–20 years old. Their roots have reached the clay-bedded sewer and stormwater lines and find the smallest joint gap, then mat up and trap grease and wipes. This is the first big wave of root-intrusion blockages on the corridor — it is our most common call-out in the established estates.

A Cardinia Lakes home with tree roots in the sewer near the back boundary usually pays around $450–$650 for a hydro-jet clear plus a CCTV inspection that confirms exactly where the roots enter, so we can quote a no-dig reline if the pipe is cracked.
